YGG is the native cryptocurrency of Yield Guild Games, a gaming guild and decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO). The Yield Guild Games DAO was developed as a vehicle to invest in yield-bearing non-fungible tokens (NFTs), play-to-earn (P2E) gaming platforms and virtual worlds. The DAO’s mission is to onboard millions of users into the gaming finance (GameFi) ecosystem. Through seeking out investments, the DAO now acts as an economic partner to top gaming projects within the space. These partnerships involve offering scholarships and NFT rental programs to gamers who may not have the means to purchase the required assets to play within the P2E games.
According to Yield Guild Games’ whitepaper, the YGG token runs on the Ethereum, Solana, and Harmony networks, and is the fuel that powers the DAO’s entire operations. All YGG holders are awarded a portion of the revenue generated from all activities and are eligible for exclusive access to privileges ranging from discounts to merchandise. Token holders also get to enjoy governance rights over the DAO. In the future, Yield Guild Games plans to establish subDAOs which are smaller entities that specialise in specific activities, games, or regions.
