Would you take less pay if it meant more travel?
Nearly one-third of business travellers would take a pay cut in exchange for additional work trips.
New research shows global corporations may be undervaluing the opportunities associated with employee business travel, neglecting the motivational and remunerative benefits.
A survey commissioned by Booking.com for Business found almost one-third (30%) of business travellers would happily take a lower-paying job if it meant they were able to travel more frequently for work.
The findings support the notion that employees are more inclined to combine work with pleasure.
More than half (55%) of all respondents said they enjoy travelling for business.
Half of global business travellers (49%) have extended a business trip at some point over the last year.
More than one quarter of these employees (27%) intend to repeat this endeavour in 2017, while half (46%) of all respondents are convinced they will undertake more business travel in 2017 than they did in 2016.
"No longer seen as lost time or a career inconvenience, business travel is increasingly seen as an opportunity to expand horizons, find inspiration and progress in a career," Booking.com for Business Ripsy Bandourian director of product development said.
The study also identified the fastest-growing city destinations for business travellers, based on escalated bookings over the last 12 months.
Shanghai in China leads the charge, followed by Tokyo in Japan and the Thai capital of Bangkok.

Almost two thirds (62%) of business travellers want to experience as many activities as possible when visiting new locations, while close to a quarter book domestic trips (23%) within a week of departure and international jaunts (24%) four weeks or less before taking off.
