What policies are available from Worldwide?

Worldwide’s three travel insurance policies cover local (UK) travel and journeys abroad. The policy you choose depends on your destination, the size of your travel party and how much cover you’d like to purchase. You can choose from three plans.

This plan offers the most comprehensive cover and is ideal for international travel. You have the option of adding Ski Equipment cover for an additional premium. You are covered for:

  • Cancellations or curtailment
  • Emergency medical expenses, including repatriation
  • Additional expenses
  • Per-day hospital benefit
  • Personal accident
  • Luggage and personal items
  • Personal money
  • Personal liability up to £2 million
  • Loss of passport
  • Catastrophe and disruption cover
  • Legal expenses

With the exception of Catastrophe and Disruption cover, this plan offers the same benefits as the Super option with lower maximum payouts per section. The benefits cover:

  • Cancellations or curtailment
  • Emergency medical expenses, including repatriation
  • Additional expenses
  • Per-day hospital benefit
  • Personal accident
  • Luggage and personal items
  • Personal money
  • Personal liability up to £1 million
  • Loss of passport
  • Legal expenses

This simple plan still covers the basics you need for travelling internationally, namely:

  • Emergency medical expenses, including repatriation
  • Loss of passport
  • Personal liability up to £1 million

How do I make a claim with Worldwide?

If you experience loss or injury during your trip, here’s how to make a claim:

  • Give notice of your emergency. For medical emergencies where you estimate the cost of treatment to exceed £500, get in touch with Global Response immediately. In the case of loss or theft of valuable items, contact the insurer by phone.
  • Have the appropriate documentation ready. Besides your policy and the claims form, make sure you have supporting documents to submit as evidence. You’ll also be asked to submit medical and police reports, proof of ownership and all available receipts.
  • Help the insurer help you. When assessing your claim, be honest and forthright in your account of the incident. Refrain from offering to pay or settle an amount with a third party without consulting the insurer. Any attempt at defrauding the insurer will result in your claim being rejected and/or your policy being cancelled.

Worldwide FAQ

Below are a few frequently asked questions about Worldwide Travel Insurance.

Q. Do I need travel insurance when travelling to Europe?

  • A. Yes. Although UK residents can travel to Europe with a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), it won’t provide the same level of comprehensive cover. By using the EHIC in conjunction with your Worldwide travel insurance policy, the medical excess is waived.

Q. How do I receive my policy if I book it online?

  • A. You will receive your policy immediately via email. You can also request that a copy be posted to you.

Q. What is policy excess?

  • A. This is the part that you have to pay in the event of a claim. The amount differs depending on the section under which you claim. Worldwide offers options to remove the excess or you can double it to reduce your premium.

Q. I have a pre-existing medical condition. Can I still apply?

  • A. Worldwide can usually insure most stable and well-controlled pre-existing medical conditions, but an additional charge may apply. This kind of cover can’t be issued online, so get in touch with Worldwide for a quote.

Q. I’d like to lodge a complaint. What do I do?

  • A. Get in touch with Worldwide’s Claims Settlement Agencies with your insurance reference, claim number and copies of the relevant documentation. If you’re still not happy, you can contact submit your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman.

Q. Can I cancel my Worldwide policy if I’m not happy with it?

  • A. You have a 14-day cooling-off period during which you can cancel your policy for a full refund. However, if you’ve already left on your trip or filed a claim, you won’t be eligible for a refund.

Q. Who underwrites Worldwide Travel Insurance?

  • A. Worldwide’s policies are underwritten by AmTrust Europe Ltd. If you’re planning a trip to Cuba, your insurance will be provided by SOLID Försäkringa.
