Hoist anchor and batten the hatches – World of Warships is coming to consoles
PS4 and Xbox One owners will finally be able to fulfil their dreams of naval glory.
It's been two and a half years since Wargaming ventured beyond the muddy battlefields of World of Tanks and into the churning waters of World of Warships. While PC gamers have spent that time launching torpedoes and gunning down enemy planes with hundreds of thousands of other people around the world, avid shipmates on PS4 and Xbox One have had to watch on in envy from the shoreline.
All that is set to change with today's announcement of World of Warships: Legends, a new version of the popular free-to-play MMO designed expressly for modern consoles. The core features of the PC game are all present, with large-scale naval battles and plenty of historical warships. Additionally, console players will get to enjoy exclusive content and features not available on PC, though it's not yet clear what these will be.
As exciting as this news is for console owners, there is a catch: World of Warships: Legends isn't due out until sometime in 2019. On the plus side, eager sailors can get their feet wet early by taking part in an Alpha Test this July. Simply head over to the World of Warships: Legends website to sign up.
