Earn 1 point per $1 spent and redeem points for savings at the checkout and Qantas Points with Woolworths Rewards.

Woolworths’ rewards program has undergone a number of changes in the last 12 months. After replacing the Everyday Rewards program in October 2015, Woolworths Rewards has also taken on many forms since then. As of 31 August 2016, the Woolworths Rewards program will undergo another massive revamp which will change how Woolies customers can earn and redeem rewards. Use this guide to understand what has changed and how you can still get extra value from every dollar you spend on groceries.

How does the Woolworths Rewards program work?

From 31 August 2016 onwards, the Woolworths Rewards program will replace Woolworths Dollars with a points per $1 system. From this date, the Woolworths Rewards program (previously known as the Everyday Rewards program), allows members to earn 1 point per $1 spent on eligible purchases at Woolworths supermarkets, Woolworths online, BWS and Caltex Woolworths fuel outlets.

When Woolworths Rewards was launched in October 2015 and until late August 2016, cardholders could only earn Woolworths Dollars on orange-ticketed items. These points could be redeemed for $10 off your shopping trip or Qantas Points (but only when you received an email offer).

How do I earn Woolworths Rewards points?

Whenever you’re shopping at Woolworths supermarkets, BWS or Caltex Woolworths fuel outlets, swipe your card at the register to earn 1 point per $1. You’ll be asked to fill in your Woolworths Rewards details if you want to earn points when shopping with Woolworths online. Previously, Woolworths Rewards could only earn points on orange-ticketed items, so this change gives you more opportunities to earn points.

There are two ways you can scan and earn points at the checkout. First, you can hold your physical card against  the terminal, scanning the barcode on the reverse of your Rewards card. Alternatively, you can scan a digital version of your card via the Woolworths app. You’ll just need to download the app, enter your card information and click "show barcode" when holding your phone up to the register.

If you forgot to swipe your card at the checkout, you won’t be able to earn rewards for that purchase.

How to earn bonus points

Use the Woolworths Rewards app and check your inbox to check exclusive bonus offers on your favourite and frequently bought items. As well as personalised offers, you’ll also receive member-only deals and exclusive offers in-store, online and via email.

Purchases that won't earn Woolworths Points

Eligible purchases do not include smoking products, gift cards, mobile recharge, Woolworths Mobile, travel cards and tickets, delivery charges, internet cafes, Woolworths flowers, Carpet Care, lottery products and purchases using Caltex Starcard.

qantas airplaneWhat rewards can I redeem with my Woolworths Rewards?

Choose any of the following to get the most out of your Woolworths Rewards:

  • Save at the checkout. You’ll automatically save $10 on your next eligible shop each time your balance reaches 2,000 points.
  • Stock up your points. If you don’t want to redeem rewards each time you reach 2,000 points, you can opt to bank your points to save for events such as Christmas or birthdays when you know you’ll be spending more.
  • Fuel discounts. You’ll also earn a 4c per litre fuel discount at any participating Caltex Woolworths co-branded fuel outlet when you spend $30 or more at Woolworths supermarkets. Your discount will be valid within 28 days of purchase.
  • Convert to Qantas Points. You can convert your Woolworths Rewards to Qantas Points in amounts of 2,000 Woolworths Rewards for 870 Qantas Points. This is an earn rate of 0.43 Qantas Points per $1 spent. There is no minimum spend required to earn Qantas Points, whereas the old Everyday Rewards system required cardholders to spend $30 to convert points to Qantas. Please allow up to 7 days for your Qantas Points to appear in your account.

The above advice requires an account or membership number for a lost card. Since the card is lost, I don’t have that information.

I don’t have the rewards card yet and I was about to apply for this (I have a Flybuys card from Coles) but when I realised that the fuel discounts will be stored on my card, I decided against it! Very inconvenient! There are 3 people in my family and sharing 1 card with the rest of the family is not possible. With the Flybuys I still get the voucher along with the receipt and sitting on the kitchen bench so anyone can use it. And I don’t have to jump on the internet to check the expire date. This is probably something to think about. How about storing on the card and-just in case of different preference- printing on the receipt?

I received an offer from you, but when I purchased on September 17 I did not get the balance in my receipt invoice to earning the points that you offered. I would like to know if I got the points in my first purchase. Thank you. Maritza

      Hi Maritza,

Thank you for your question. Just to confirm that you’ve come through to finder.com.au, not actually Woolworths.

There are a number of ways you can check your points:

      1. Online at woolworthsrewards.com.au – Once logged in, you can view your account transactions, click ‘My Account’ then ‘My Activity’.

      2. On your receipt – When you scan your card at the checkout, you’ll be able to see your balance at the end of your receipt, along with a summary of any points you’ve earned or Automatic savings you’ve redeemed on that shop. If you’ve shopped online, this information will be on your delivery receipt.

      3. By phone – Call Woolworths on 1300 10 1234 and follow the prompts.

      4. Woolworths app – Download the Woolworths smartphone app from the App Store or Google Play and add your rewards card number. To add your rewards card, go into the Woolworths app, tap ‘More’ and enter your 13-digit rewards card number in the space provided. You’ll then be able to track your balance by clicking ‘Woolworths Rewards’.

      5. Shopping online at woolworths.com.au – You can view your balance when you’re shopping with Woolworths online by clicking your name, then ‘My Account’ then ‘Woolworths Rewards’ from the menu on the left. Note: any points you’ll earn in that online shop won’t appear in this balance until your shopping has been packed and delivered to you.

      Hope this answered your question.

      Cheers,
      May

Hi. I have been told to activate my card by putting in my code. I can’t find where to put this, then was told I haven’t an account with this Email address. As I’ve had this card for years why is it so hard to enter a simple code?
