Information verified correct on March 29th, 2017

From getting cash off your next shop to earning Qantas Points and saving money on fuel, here's how Woolworths Rewards works.

Woolworths Rewards is a loyalty program that rewards you when you shop at Woolworths supermarkets, BWS and Caltex-Woolworths co-branded service stations. It allows you to earn 1 point per $1 spent with program partners when you scan or provide your membership number, which can be redeemed for cash off your next shop or for Qantas Points.

You'll also be able to accumulate fuel discounts for use at Caltex Woolworths co-branded service stations and enjoy special offers for bonus points throughout the year. Use this guide to learn more about the program, including steps to join, how to earn points, what rewards are available and the common questions people ask about Woolworths Rewards.

How to join Woolworths RewardsWoolworths Rewards logo 150x150

Woolworths Rewards is free to join at any time online via the Woolworths Rewards using these steps:

  1. Provide your name, email address, phone number, date of birth and a password for the Woolworths Rewards Website.
  2. Provide a mailing address for your Woolworths Rewards card.
  3. Confirm your details and click on "Join Woolworths Rewards".

After that, you'll be emailed a confirmation and can print out a temporary membership card. Your actual card will arrive within 7 days. Alternatively, you can also apply to join Woolworths Rewards in a participating store. When you do this, you'll get a temporary card that you can start earning points on. You'll then need to complete your account activation online by following the steps above.

How do I earn Woolworths Rewards points?

Whenever you’re shopping at Woolworths supermarkets, BWS or Caltex Woolworths fuel outlets, swipe your card at the register to earn 1 point per $1. Alternatively, you can scan a digital version of your card via the Woolworths app. You’ll just need to download the app, enter your card information and click "show barcode" when holding your phone up to the register.

When shopping with Woolworths Online, you’ll be asked to fill in your Woolworths Rewards details as part of the payment process. Note that if you forget to swipe your card at the checkout, you won’t be able to earn rewards for that purchase.

How to earn bonus points

Use the Woolworths Rewards app and check your inbox to check exclusive bonus offers on your favourite and frequently bought items. As well as personalised offers, you’ll also receive member-only deals and exclusive offers in-store, online and via email.

Purchases that won't earn Woolworths Points

Eligible purchases do not include smoking products, gift cards, mobile recharge, Woolworths Mobile, travel cards and tickets, delivery charges, internet cafes, Woolworths flowers, Carpet Care, lottery products and purchases using Caltex Starcard.

Woolworths Rewards and Woolworths credit cards

Woolworths also offers two credit cards that double as Woolworths Rewards cards and offer points for everyday spending. The Woolworths Everyday Platinum Credit Card offers 3 points per $1 spent on Woolworths brand products, 2 points per $1 spent at participating Woolworths Groups stores and 1 point per $1 spent elsewhere, while the Woolworths Qantas Platinum Credit Card earns 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent up to $2,500 per statement period, then 0.5 points per $1 after that.

Both of these cards also include your Woolworths Rewards barcode and number on the back, below the signature panel. This means you can just scan the back of your credit card if you're paying with plastic. In addition to these features, you can also take advantage of platinum benefits such as complimentary insurance and a concierge service.

Choose any of the following to get the most out of your Woolworths Rewards:

  • Save at the checkout. You’ll automatically save $10 on your next eligible shop each time your balance reaches 2,000 points.
  • Stock up your points. If you don’t want to redeem rewards each time you reach 2,000 points, you can opt to bank your points to save for events such as Christmas or birthdays when you know you’ll be spending more.
  • Fuel discounts. You’ll also earn a 4c per litre fuel discount at any participating Caltex Woolworths co-branded fuel outlet when you spend $30 or more at Woolworths supermarkets. Your discount will be valid within 28 days of purchase.
  • Convert to Qantas Points. You can convert your Woolworths Rewards to Qantas Points in amounts of 2,000 Woolworths Rewards for 870 Qantas Points. This is an earn rate of 0.43 Qantas Points per $1 spent. There is no minimum spend required to earn Qantas Points, whereas the old Everyday Rewards system required cardholders to spend $30 to convert points to Qantas. Please allow up to 7 days for your Qantas Points to appear in your account.

      Hi Brian,

      Thanks for your question.

There are several ways on how to track your Woolworths Rewards points:

Online at Woolworths Rewards website – Just log-in to your account and you’ll be able to see your points balance at the top of the page.

On your receipt – Each time you scan your card at the checkout, you will see your balance at the end of the receipt.

By phone – You can directly call Woolworths on 1300 10 1234 and follow the prompts. Please keep your rewards card handy so you can enter your 13-digit card number when prompted before getting your balance points.

Woolworths app – When you have installed a Woolworths app, you can check your balance by clicking ‘Woolworths Rewards’

      I hope this helps.

I don’t have the rewards card yet and I was about to apply for this (I have a Flybuys card from Coles) but when I realised that the fuel discounts will be stored on my card, I decided against it! Very inconvenient! There are 3 people in my family and sharing 1 card with the rest of the family is not possible. With the Flybuys I still get the voucher along with the receipt and sitting on the kitchen bench so anyone can use it. And I don’t have to jump on the internet to check the expire date. This is probably something to think about. How about storing on the card and-just in case of different preference- printing on the receipt?

I received an offer from you, but when I purchased on September 17 I did not get the balance in my receipt invoice to earning the points that you offered. I would like to know if I got the points in my first purchase. Thank you. Maritza

      May | September 25, 2016

      Hi Maritza,

Thank you for your question. Just to confirm that you’ve come through to finder.com.au, not actually Woolworths.

There are a number of ways you can check your points:

      1. Online at woolworthsrewards.com.au – Once logged in, you can view your account transactions, click ‘My Account’ then ‘My Activity’.

      2. On your receipt – When you scan your card at the checkout, you’ll be able to see your balance at the end of your receipt, along with a summary of any points you’ve earned or Automatic savings you’ve redeemed on that shop. If you’ve shopped online, this information will be on your delivery receipt.

      3. By phone – Call Woolworths on 1300 10 1234 and follow the prompts.

      4. Woolworths app – Download the Woolworths smartphone app from the App Store or Google Play and add your rewards card number. To add your rewards card, go into the Woolworths app, tap ‘More’ and enter your 13-digit rewards card number in the space provided. You’ll then be able to track your balance by clicking ‘Woolworths Rewards’.

      5. Shopping online at woolworths.com.au – You can view your balance when you’re shopping with Woolworths online by clicking your name, then ‘My Account’ then ‘Woolworths Rewards’ from the menu on the left. Note: any points you’ll earn in that online shop won’t appear in this balance until your shopping has been packed and delivered to you.

      Hope this answered your question.

      Cheers,
      May
