Woolworths Mobile Contract plans

Information verified correct on January 18th, 2017

Woolworths Mobile currently only offers a single handset on a contract.

While the bulk of Woolworths Mobile's product offerings are pitched towards the prepaid market, it has a 24 month contract plan with a single attached handset on offer. You can only get this plan with a Samsung Galaxy S5.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 was a premium handset in its day, but that day was several years ago, which means you'd be signing up for what's effectively a mid-range handset in modern terms. That being said, Woolworths Mobile charges a relatively low monthly fee for the handset and associated call provisions, which are as follows:

  • A very simple mobile plan The Galaxy S5 isn’t the newest phone on the block, but it’s a serviceable phone that was a premium offering in its time.

  • Less data than other plans Woolworths Mobile's contract plan offer significantly less data than its SIM-only plans, which is unusual. Most contract plans simply offer a phone payment on top of the usual SIM-only inclusions.
  • Only uses "parts" of Telstra's network There's no 4G capability with Woolworths Connect. Even the 3G sections are speed limited. This also means the coverage map is slightly smaller than Telstra's "full" network.
  • High data charges: Woolworths Mobile charges for data in 25KB blocks, which means you'll burn through data at a faster rate than with a telco that uses per-KB charging.

Who this plan would suit

If you're a regular Woolworths customer with moderate phone needs and don't want to buy your phone outright, the Woolworths Mobile contract plan could be a worthwhile buy.
