Woolworths Mobile adds Oppo phones on contract

Woolworths Mobile has taken the Oppo-rtunity to extended beyond Samsung handsets by including a range of Oppo Android phones on contract.

When Woolworths Mobile launched its contract plans, it did so with a single handset; Samsung’s generally good but relatively old (even then) Samsung Galaxy S5. Since then it’s added handsets below and above the S5, including the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, but always within the Samsung family of Android handsets.

That exclusivity is over, it appears, with a range of Oppo phones appearing on Woolworths Mobile’s website today. Specifically, Woolworths Mobile will offer the Oppo F1s, Oppo R9 and Oppo R9s on its S, M and L phone plan tiers over 24 months.

The Oppo F1s doesn’t attract any additional handset repayments at all over the life of the contract, while the Oppo R9 only attracts an additional cost at the lowest plan tier. The slightly higher-end Oppo R9s does include handset repayments except at the top-end pricing tier.

The relative pricing is interesting, because at the lowest tier the F1s makes sense, but at mid-range there's no real reason to choose it over the similarly priced and better R9. Likewise at the top tier the lack of handset repayments makes the R9 Plus the best value offer.

Here’s how the new plans compare across each of Woolworths Mobile’s plan tiers.
