Woolworths brings back Qantas Frequent Flyer Points for shoppers

Woolworths Rewards members can once again earn Qantas Points as they spend.

15 December 2015: Woolworths launched the new Everyday Rewards program on October 28 2015. Replacing the Everyday Rewards scheme, Woolworths announced that cardholders would no longer be able to earn Qantas Points on their everyday groceries. This didn’t last long though, with Woolies announcing that cardholders can once again earn Frequent Flyer points.

So, I'll be able to earn Qantas Points again?

Currently, Woolworths Rewards members earn Woolworths Dollars when they purchase orange ticketed items at the supermarket. Once you’ve reached 10 Woolworths Dollars, you can then redeem your rewards for a $10 discount off your shop. As of January 1 2016 though, Woolworths Rewards members will also receive email updates about bonuses they can activate to redeem Woolworths Dollars for Qantas Frequent Flyer Points. And from mid-2016 members will be able to directly redeem their Woolworths Dollars for Qantas Points, earning 870 Qantas Points per 10 Woolworths Dollars earned. Unlike the previous program, cardholders will no longer have to spend above $30 to earn Qantas Points. Woolworths are currently increasing the number of orange tickets in store on fresh and popular products, giving you more opportunities to earn as you spend.

Unfortunately, cardholders will be unable to earn Qantas Points when filling up at Caltex/Woolworths petrol stations in the new year. There are however, other ways to earn Qantas Points.

Bonuses for existing Woolworths Rewards customers

If you belonged to the Woolworths program in between the launch of the program at the end of October and January 1 2016, you'll be emailed regular bonus Qantas Points offers during the period while the new points system is introduced. According to a statement released by Qantas, this will ensure “shopping at Woolworths remains the best option for Qantas Frequent Flyers during the implementation period”. If you’re a loyal Woolies patron and frequently fly with Qantas, joining the Woolworths Rewards program could be a valuable way to earn Frequent Flyer Points at the checkout. Remember, you can only earn Woolworths Dollars on orange ticketed items and keep an eye out for bonus offers to increase the number of Qantas Points you stand to earn. Hi Susan,

      Thanks for your question.

If you have requested to convert your Woolworths points to Qantas points, Woolworths will send you an email to let you know how many Qantas points are added to your frequent flyer account.

If you have not yet converted your Woolworths points and are planning to do so, you may follow the following steps:

-Log in to your Woolworths Rewards account then go to ‘MY ACCOUNT’
      -Click the ‘Redemption Settings’ tab
      - Select ‘Convert to Qantas Points’

      Cheers,
      Anndy
