If you’re a regular purchaser of iPhone apps, your kids are churning through gold bars in Candy Crush Saga, or your partner is purchasing past series of Game of Thrones on Apple TV, you may find that you spend a lot on iTunes purchases.

However, with a bit of preparation, it’s possible to make sure that you never pay full price for any media purchase via iTunes by pre-purchasing credit and keeping your account topped-up.

Coles and Woolworths are in a constant battle to attract customers and regularly discount iTunes credit. Often, they'll try to better each other with discounts. Earlier this month, Woolworths introduced a 15% discount on iTunes credit. This week, Coles have hit back with an even bigger 20% discount available until 1 August, meaning you can currently grab a $50 iTunes gift card for only $40.

If you can’t get to either of the big supermarkets, Officeworks offer a lowest-price guarantee. This means it will match the cheapest price on offer in any other retailer - however, you’ll need to provide some evidence of the cheaper price. If you’d rather avoid having that conversation with the store manager, wait a couple of days and Officeworks will usually officially match the lowest discount on the market. It’s also worth keeping an eye on Australia Post, Kmart and Big W who also regularly run discounts which Officeworks will match.

If you want to keep up-to-date with current deals on the market, check out the “Gift Cards On Sale” Facebook page. Discounts of up to 25% have been on offer over the last year. If you top up your credit every time one of these offers becomes available, you’ll never have to pay full price for Game of Thrones again.
