From carpenters and plumbers to foremen and builders, training for construction induction and getting your white card teaches you important health and safety rules.
The Work Health and Safety Act 2011 makes the white card mandatory for anyone working in the construction industry. It's recognised across Australia and the training follows the National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry.
What white card courses are available online?
The white card course is the same no matter where you take it online. Just make sure that the training institution is a nationally accredited registered training organisation (RTO) and registered with federal and state government bodies, which includes Work Safe, SafeWork and ASQA.
The official white card course code is CPCCWH1001, which replaces the old CPCCOHS1001A.
You can find an RTO, like White Card Online and Express Online Training, through Safe Work Australia. For more information on white card training and WHS standards, visit training.gov.au.
When you complete your training, you'll receive a Statement of Attainment and your official white card.
Who should take an online white card course?
Anyone wanting to work in construction in Australia must hold a white card. This is because it ensures workplace health and safety rules are followed by all on-site workers. This includes sub-contractors, labourers, apprentices, tradesmen, supervisors and project managers.
The white card replaces all other cards, including the blue, red and green card. If you need a replacement white card, you can apply through the same channels for training.
How long is a white card valid for?
There is no set expiry date for your white card, but your company may expect you to refresh your training every two years.
If you've been off work for an extended period of time, you'll have to re-take the course to qualify for a new white card.
