In the not-too-distant future, vampires have come out of the coffin. They no longer need human blood to survive and can rely on a synthetic blood product called "Tru Blood".

In this new reality, can a telepathic waitress forge a love match with a 173-year-old vampire? More importantly, will she be able to survive once she becomes an integral part of his life?

True Blood offers thoughtful social commentary from time to time, but it's mostly a welcome escape from real life into a world where brooding supernatural beings struggle for equal rights and engage in all sorts of intriguing power battles. Best enjoyed binged.
