Synopsis

On a fall night in 2003, Harvard undergrad and computer programming genius Mark Zuckerberg sits down at his computer and heatedly begins working on a new idea. In a flurry of blogging and programming, what begins in his dorm room as a small website among friends soon becomes a global social network and a revolution in communication.

A mere six years and 500 million friends later, Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest billionaire in history... but for this entrepreneur, success leads to both personal and legal complications.

Cast and crew

  • Jesse Eisenberg
  • Andrew Garfield
  • Justin Timberlake
While attending Harvard, Mark Zuckerberg creates the social networking site that would be known as Facebook. But as the website becomes increasingly popular, he gets sued by the brothers who claim he stole their idea and his relationship with the co-founder is severely put to the test.

Impeccably scripted, well-acted and perfectly directed, The Social Network is a fast-paced drama about very smart people and the cost of getting ahead. Jesse Eisenberg is spectacular in the role of Facebook's CEO, whose rise from Harvard sophomore to Internet superstar was meteoric, to say the least. Even all these years later, the film endures thanks to its powerful themes that revolve around friendship, loyalty and greed.
