Set in the 60s, The Shape of Water follows Elisa, a mute woman with little social life who works as a janitor at a government laboratory. Her life changes for the better when she stumbles upon the lab's classified project: a humanoid amphibian creature that lives in a water tank.

The two become close, but their unique bond will soon be tested. After all, the government has nefarious plans for the Amphibian Man.

While the premise may sound silly to some, we're happy to report that Guillermo del Toro delivers a magical and visually dazzling story about the love between a woman and a monster. Add a terrific performance from Sally Hawkins into the mix and The Shape of Water is a stunning piece of cinema.
