The Quest preview

The new Disney Plus series is actually a revival. The Quest ran for 1 season on ABC in the US back in 2014, when 12 contestants aged 20 to 40 had to discover the secrets of Everealm and competed for the title of One True Hero.

This time around, the focus will be on teens, with this new version of The Quest featuring contestants aged 13 to 16.

Described as a hybrid competition series, the show sees the contestants enter the magical kingdom of Everealm, so it has a high fantasy backdrop. The storyline is scripted and actors will play the kingdom's royals and magical creatures. That being said, the actual challenges are very real. Contestants will be evaluated based on their abilities and the alliances they forge throughout the competition.

According to the official synopsis, the contestants have to face off against a powerful sorceress intent on destruction and they need to fulfil an ancient prophecy in order to restore balance in the realm. The Quest will feature ethereal Fates, mystical creatures, a castle and royals. The contestants, dubbed Paladins, will undergo challenges meant to test their physical and mental strength. These vary from escaping a maze to target practice to figuring out the next steps that will bring them closer to completing their mission.

The original version of The Quest may have been short-lived, yet it was received with audience enthusiasm. If you're into fantasy, you should definitely give this revival a stream. Seeing real-life teens compete in a magical kingdom should be all sorts of entertaining.

Will they be able to unlock the heroes within? Tune in to find out.
