In need of a good laugh? Head up to Scranton, Pennsylvania and enjoy the juicy office drama that plagues the 9-to-5 world. You don’t even have to leave your bed.

With its humble beginnings and initial mixed reviews notwithstanding, The Office (US) slowly spiralled into nothing less than a hit show.

An Americanised version of the UK show with the same name led by Ricky Gervais, The Office (US) eventually grew creatively and found its own groove from Season Two forward.

Despite its slow rise to popularity, its hilarious content helped it evolve into one of the sharpest and funniest shows in recent memory, and provided fodder for its loyal fan base to create some pretty humorous memes that will flood the Internet for years to come.

The sitcom chronicles the shenanigans of disgruntled office workers at Dunder Mifflin. It initially featured Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer and B. J. Novak as the main cast, but went on to experience numerous cast changes during its nine-season run.

In total, it aired 201 episodes from 2005 to 2013. At its core, The Office (US) is a fly-on-the-wall, reality-show parody of modern American office life. Steve Carell plays Michael Scott, the world’s most awkward boss as he supervises the employees of a paper supply company, often to hilarious results. The show has heart, romance, gossip and memorable pranks that will keep you glued to the screen.

The Office (US) won plenty of awards, including five Emmys. However, its greatest legacy is the fact that it remains incredibly relatable to anyone who ever had to work a tedious 9-to-5 job.

If you hate your job or your boss, this show will make you laugh. Even if you love your workplace, you’ll still be in for a good time. That’s what she said.
