The Mauritanian tells the story of Mohamedou Ould Slahi and his fight for freedom after being imprisoned without charge by the US government for years. Completely alone, Slahi relies on his top-notch team of lawyers, who are ready to fight for justice using unconventional means.

The entire cast is great, with Tahar Rahim in particular giving a haunting performance. As for the story itself: it's chilling, which makes The Mauritanian extremely a powerful and memorable watch. Stream it when you want a reminder that locking someone up doesn't always kill their spirit. Sometimes, quite the opposite is true.
