HBO’s The Leftovers is unpredictable. With its sullen tone and serious nature, the series turns the ideals and notions of "normal" on its head.

When society crumbles after a global loss , the world's remaining survivors are left to wonder why they were spared – hence the show's title: The Leftovers.

At the heart of it all is a family who lost no one during the catastrophic event but still feel the crushing weight of that day.

The three seasons are distinctly different, with the first two taking place in different towns, and the third moving to Australia to finish the series.
