In this sequel to the phenomenal The Karate Kid, young Daniel travels with his mentor, Mr Miyagi, to the Japanese island of Okinawa.

Their purpose is to visit Miyagi's sick father, but once there, Miyagi is surprised to find out that a lost love is still single. Daniel develops a crush as well, but their burgeoning feelings must be put on hold while they deal with the usual bullies.

The relationship between Daniel and Miyagi is just as heartwarming as it was in the original, but the stakes are higher and the fights more exciting. While somewhat predictable, The Karate Kid Part II is a worthy sequel that expands the universe and offers more background on Mr Miyagi, one of cinema's most memorable characters.
