Year released

Crime, drama, mystery

Aaron Falk returns to his drought-stricken hometown to attend a tragic funeral. But his return opens up a decades-old wound – the unsolved death of a teenage girl.

Cast and crew

  • Eric Bana
  • Genevieve O'Reilly
  • Keir O'Donnell
The Dry centres on Aaron Falk, a federal agent who returns to his hometown to attend the funeral of his best friend from childhood, Luke.

The theory is that Luke killed his wife and child before taking his own life, with the drought making life in the Australian town almost unbearable. Falk reluctantly decides to look into the crime, but can't help but be reminded of the decades-old death of a teenage girl. Might those two cases be connected?

Atmospheric and well-acted, The Dry will grab you from the opening minutes and keep you glued to the screen, struggling to piece together what really happened. As a nice bonus, Eric Bana gives a memorable performance in the lead role.
