Strange Angel tells the story of Jack Parsons, an American rocket engineer and Thelemite occultist. Parsons starts out as a janitor at a chemical factory, but his intelligence and ambition eventually lead him to become a pioneer of American rocketry.

He also just happens to be a disciple of occultist Aleister Crowley, so we watch him explore a mysterious world that involves sex magic rituals.

A bit of a slow burn, Strange Angel has excellent production values, great performances and a story that steadily pulls you in. It also paints a vivid picture of Los Angeles in the 1930s, so it should be a blast for period drama fans.
