Inspired by true events, the mesmerising film is set in 1931 and centres on 3 Aboriginal girls taken from their families and sent to Moore River Native Settlement.

However, the girls escape and head home, making a harrowing journey back to their loved ones along the titular rabbit-proof fence. All the while, they are followed by Moodoo the tracker, played by David Gulpilil (also known as David Dalaithngu).

Well-acted and visually dazzling, Rabbit-Proof Fence is an Australian Outback classic, loosely based on the book Follow the Rabbit-Proof Fence by Doris Pilkington Garimara. This is the kind of thought-provoking movie that stays with you for a long time.
