Synopsis

An intimate documentary that looks at the vicious cycles of drug addiction and street crime in one of the roughest parts of New Jersey.

Cast and crew

  • Robert Steffey
  • Freddie Rodriguez
  • Deliris Vasquez
An ambitious documentary, Life of Crime 1984–2020 follows 3 friends as they experience the highs and lows of a life ruled by drug use.

Coming from producer and director Jon Alpert, this is the final entry in his epic documentary trilogy. It all started with earlier films One Year in a Life of Crime (1989) and Life of Crime 2 (1998).

While the previous 2 documentaries in the series introduced us to Rob, Deliris and Freddie, petty criminals in New Jersey, Life of Crime 1984–2020 chronicles their triumphs and failures over almost 4 decades. The result? An unfiltered look at the devastating consequences of addiction.
