Mark Ruffalo plays a double role in I Know This Much Is True, a drama based on the 1998 novel of the same name by Wally Lamb.

The story follows a middle-aged man who struggles to get his paranoid schizophrenic twin brother released from an asylum following a harrowing incident.

I Know This Much Is True is bleak, so it's not an easy watch. However, Ruffalo offers two incredible performances, to the point where you'll be forgiven if you forget that the brothers are actually played by the same guy.

Tragic but incredibly compelling, this is the kind of show that stays with you for a long time.
