Synopsis

John Cusack (Being John Malkovich) stars as Rob Gordon, the owner of a semi-failing record store located on one of the back streets of Chicago. He sells music the old-fashioned way – on vinyl, with two wacky clerks, the hysterically funny rock snob Barry (Jack Black) and the more quietly opinionated underachiever Dick (Todd Louiso). But Rob's business isn't the only thing in his life that's floundering – his needle skips the love groove when his long-time girlfriend Laura (newcomer Iben Hjejle) walks out on him.

Based on Nick Hornby's novel of the same name, High Fidelity follows the owner of a record store who isn't great at long-term commitment. Following his latest break-up, he starts to reflect on his past relationships by seeking out his exes in an attempt to get closure.

John Cusack gives an outstanding performance in the lead role, delivering his lines with delicious dry humour. More than that, the movie is a meditation on love and relationships, with relevant observations that enable it to stand the test of time. If you're into moving rom-coms, you can't miss this one.
