  • Hoyt Axton
When a boy gets a cute and exotic pet for Christmas, he needs to follow three simple rules: don't get him wet, keep him out of bright light and never feed him after midnight.

He doesn't, so a gang of mischievous gremlins end up on a mission to tear up the town on Christmas Eve. Hilarious mayhem and destruction follows.

A cult classic, Gremlins holds up remarkably well despite the old-fashioned effects. That's because the film seamlessly combines terror with comedy, delivering laughs and scares in equal fashion. It's wacky but it works.
