Where to watch Gotham online
Where to catch the adventures of a fresh-faced Jim Gordon and baby Batman in Australia.
We all know Batman's backstory by now. Murdered parents drive Bruce Wayne into a life of vigilantism, thwarting madcap criminals like The Joker and Scarecrow with a combination of high-tech gadgets and good old-fashioned biffo. Thankfully, Gotham takes a fresh approach to The Dark Knight's story, shifting focus to Detective James Gordon and his rise through the Gotham City Police Department. Young Bruce Wayne and an assortment of familiar Batman villains make their appearance, but Gotham is very much Gordon's story. It is a grounded and gritty crime procedural that provides a new perspective on the world of Batman.
To watch Gotham here in Australia, you have a few different options. On the streaming side, Netflix has the first season available. If you're more of a download person, iTunes has the first two seasons available as does BigPond Movies and the Microsoft Store. Google Play, oddly, offers the first season but only the first 12 episodes of the second season.
Gotham Season One
As a new recruit in the Gotham City Police Department, James Gordon is partnered with grizzled detective Harvey Bullock and tasked with solving one of Gotham City's most notorious crimes: the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne, Bruce Wayne's parents. Diving into Gotham's seedy underbelly, Gordon finds himself coming face-to-face with a number of iconic Batman villains in their early years, from Oswald "The Penguin" Cobblepot and Edward "The Riddler" Nygma to Harvey "Two-Face" Dent and Selena "Catwoman" Kyle. At the same time, the Maroni and Falcone crime families wage war against each other on Gotham's streets, sparing no concern for the civilians caught in the crossfire.
To bring a semblance of peace and justice back to Gotham City, Gordon must set aside his morals and team up with the very scum he stands against. At least a young Bruce Wayne is on his side, for all that's worth…
- Released: 2015
Gotham Season Two
Penguin sits on the throne of Gotham City. His intentions are unclear but they are almost certainly sinister. Nevertheless, in the wake of his recent demotion, Gordon must seek Penguin's help to regain favour with the GCPD and resume his mission of bringing peace to Gotham. One favour, though, always requires another…
Meanwhile, Theo Galavan and his sister Tabitha arrive in Gotham hell-bent on seizing it for themselves and exacting revenge on the Wayne family for past injustices against their own. After abducting Mayor Aubrey James, the Galavans assemble a team of Arkham Asylum's most dangerous inmates and set them loose on the city. At the same time, the mysterious Hugo Strange begins conducting sordid experiments in his lab beneath Arkham Asylum, meddling with forces capable of destroying everything Gordon has achieved.
- Released: 2016
Gotham Season Three
In the wake of Hugo Strange's depraved experiments, the Gotham City Police Department is at its wits' end trying to maintain some measure of peace in the crime-ravaged city. No longer content working within the letter of the law, Gordon takes matters into his own hands and becomes a bounty hunter, chasing down the monstrous creations Strange unleashed upon the world.
Meanwhile, The Penguin takes advantage of Gotham City's fragile state to run for mayor, hoping to expand his stranglehold on the city. Jervis Tetch, also known as the Mad Hatter, joins the festivities, determined to track down his sister Alice. Back at Wayne Manor, young Bruce Wayne uncovers more details of his parents' murder, leading to a suspicious organisation known as the Court of Owls. Responsible for orchestrating much of the chaos plaguing Gotham City, the Court of Owls could be the key to saving Gotham or the dagger that slits its throat.
- Released: 2017
Season 3 of Gotham is not currently available anywhere in Australia. We'll update this page as soon as something is announced.
