A joint UK and French production, Death in Paradise is set on an exotic island in the Caribbean. A UK police detective inspector is transferred to the idyllic setting but he hates the sun and the sea with a passion.

Even worse, it turns out that heinous acts occur everywhere, so he has to use his skills to solve various cases that pop up along the way.

The detective in charge changes on a regular basis – DI Richard Poole starts the show and is replaced by DI Humphrey Goodman from series three, DI Jack Mooney from series six and DI Neville Parker from series nine. That's an interesting way to keep things fresh.

Add some beautiful scenery and exciting cases into the mix and Death in Paradise makes for excellent comfort TV.
