Alabama Snake isn't your run-of-the-mill true crime documentary for one simple reason: the details of the case are so weird that it more resembles a horror movie than real life. Plus, it involves rattlesnakes and religion.

The doco chronicles the story of minister Glenn Summerford, who was accused of attempting to murder his wife with a rattlesnake. How? Back in the early '90s he allegedly forced his wife's hand into a crate full of poisonous rattlesnakes, hoping to poison her to death. Weird M.O. but OK.

Alabama Snake also sheds light on the investigation and trial, as well as offering the inside scoop on the Pentecostal church where Summerford preached – and where believers often used snakes in their rituals. If you like dramatic reenactments, shocking developments and serpents, watch this ASAP.
