Where to buy the Pokémon Go Plus accessory in Australia

Brodie Fogg 6 July 2016

REVIEW (1)

Australian trainers were lucky to get their hands on Pokémon Go a little earlier than the rest of the world, but there's still no sign of the Go Plus accessory.

UPDATE 16.9.16: Pokémon Go Plus preorders recently went on sale before selling out within minutes at EB Games. Since then, Nintendo Australia has begun selling the watch-like accessory through eBay for $49.95.

Australia collectively lost its shit when it was announced they could access the Pokémon GO app slightly earlier than the rest of the world. Which is fair enough. Aussies and Kiwis are constantly late to the party in regards to the latest games, movies and TV shows. So it was nice to have a head start for once. However, it looks like you can't have your rare candy and eat it too.

One thing that's been noticeably absent from the launch is any mention of when and where trainers will be able to get their hands on that delightful little Pokémon GO Plus device.

REVIEW (2)

Amazon was taking preorders for some time, and the page still exists, but for now the closest thing we have to a real life Pokédex is currently unavailable.

There are a bunch of sellers auctioning off "guaranteed preorders" on eBay, but we'd be very wary about throwing down a bid. Considering the unknown state of Pokémon GO preorders at the moment, bidding upwards of $500 for a preorder seems like jumping the gun.

It has been confirmed Gamestop in the US will be selling preorders of the device so it's fairly safe to assume its Australian brethren, EB Games, will follow suit. For now, we're in the dark.

We'll update this page the moment more details come to light.

It's worth noting that you don't need the Pokémon GO Plus accessory to enjoy the game, it's just a peripheral that adds to the fun. The Pokémon GO app is available to download now.
