Singles’ Day 2018: What sales can we expect?

Mia Steiber 9 November 2018 NEWS

Which stores will be having Singles' Day sales? And what deals can we expect to see?

It's the world's biggest shopping event, Singles' Day. Don't believe it? Well each year, this one day sees Chinese retailer Alibaba generate around $20 billion in sales.

Singles' Day takes place each year on 11 November – this Sunday – and began in the 90s in China as a celebration of being single. Over the years, Chinese retailers like Alibaba started offering discounts and deals on this day and now it has transformed into a worldwide shopping event in its own right.

So what does this mean for us Australian shoppers? Well it means that we can expect to see a whole bunch of sales emerge this Sunday 11 November.

What sales can we expect to see?

It's really common to see 11% off sales on Singles' Day. The number 11 is very significant to Singles' Day and not just because of the date. Those particular numerals are seen to be representative of single people. This year, designer store Forzieri is offering 11% off for Singles' Day, and we're expecting to see a few more offers like this come Sunday.

Of course, since this is a shopping event that started in China, we will definitely be seeing deals and sales at top Chinese retailers. Alibaba will undoubtedly have a huge Singles' Day offering with deals and discounts across every category. We can expect to see the same from AliExpress too. It's also likely that stores that are very popular in Chinese markets like YOOX and SSENSE may very well have Singles' Day sales too.

We're also very likely to see Singles' Day deals from those stores that have run offers in previous years. In the past, we've seen deals from David Jones, Jurlique, Forever New, The Outnet, Boohoo, Rebecca Minkoff, ry.com.au, Charles & Keith and Stuart Weitzman. So there is a good chance that we'll be seeing deals from these stores again.

How to shop the Singles' Day sales

Some Singles' Day offers are already live and ready for you to shop. Mon Purse's $50 off sale is already going. And Forzieri's extra 11% off sale is live too.

But if you want to see all of the deals coming this Sunday 11 November, you can check out the Finder Singles' Day sales page. When the deals and discounts begin, they will all be there in a handy list for you to search through and shop.
