If you're not sure what to buy at the Boxing Day sales this year, here are five things that should be on your list.

Boxing Day is coming up quickly and there will be hundreds of sales available to take advantage of. Anyone looking for some inspiration for what to put on their sales shopping lists, there are a few things you should keep in mind. Here are five things you should try and buy this Boxing Day.

New Year's Eve Outfit

It's always nice to have a fresh, new outfit for New Year's Eve. And if you're intending on finding something shiny and new, then the Boxing Day sales is the time to do it. Most major retailers in Australia have big Boxing Day sales including stores like David Jones and Myer, which are the perfect places to pick up a new dress or shirt and tie. In previous years, there have been very significant discounts across the fashion categories so there will be big savings to be had.

Food Processor

You know those household items that would make life that much easier but have always seemed too expensive? Well, Boxing Day is the perfect time to pick these pieces up for a bargain. A good food processor saves you time and makes cooking so much easier. And since appliance retailers like The Good Guys and David Jones always have big sales on Boxing Day, this is one of the best opportunities to save on a food processor.

Beauty gift packs

Around Christmas, many beauty brands bring out seasonal gift packs of perfumes, makeup and skincare. And as soon as Christmas is over, these pieces go straight to the sale section. If you're looking to expand your beauty collection, you'll find some great savings if you hunt through the gift packs on Boxing Day at stores like MECCA, Sephora and David Jones.

Sheets are expensive. So why not try and buy yours at the Boxing Day sales? These are a necessity so you're going to have to buy your sheets at some point. Why not try and snap them up at 40% off – the sale that Sheridan offered last year. Besides, nice sheets add a little touch of luxury into your life.

Vacuum cleaners are another one of those annoyingly expensive necessities. If you're in the market for your first vacuum or maybe a vacuum update, you should definitely try snapping one up on Boxing Day. In previous years, stores like Target and Myer have offered 40% off Dyson products, so there should be plenty of ways to save on vacuums this Boxing Day.
