The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian premieres on Disney+ in Australia the same day it does in the US.

It's a good time to be into The Mandalorian. Season 2 is just around the corner, scheduled to arrive on Disney+ less than a year after the debut of season 1. Luckily, production on this instalment wrapped up just before the COVID-19 shutdown, so filming wasn't affected by the pandemic.

That's the main reason the Star Wars series is returning in a timely fashion, unlike other TV shows and movies whose release has been delayed by coronavirus restrictions. In even better news, The Mandalorian is reportedly on schedule to start production on season 3 before the end of the year.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, we have eight shiny new episodes coming our way from the end of October to mid-December. The new season premieres on 30 October and episodes will be released on a weekly basis, every Friday, with the finale scheduled to drop on Disney+ on 18 December. Here's the schedule:

  • Chapter 9 – 30 October - 6pm AEDT
  • Chapter 10 – 6 November - 6pm AEDT
  • Chapter 11 – 13 November - 6pm AEDT
  • Chapter 12 – 20 November - 6pm AEDT
  • Chapter 13 – 27 November - 6pm AEDT
  • Chapter 14 – 4 December - 6pm AEDT
  • Chapter 15 – 11 December - 6pm AEDT
  • Chapter 16 – 18 December - 6pm AEDT

There's no free trial, but Disney+ starts from just $11.99 per month

Watch new and classic TV and movies from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, National Geographic and 21st Century Fox from one streaming service.

If this Reddit leak is to be believed, the first episode of season 2 will be 52 minutes long – the longest The Mandalorian episode so far. Everybody around the world with access to Disney+ will be able to watch episodes simultaneously – the company isn't even sending advance screeners to critics.

In the United States, previous episodes of The Mandalorian came out at midnight PT. That translates to 6pm AEDT. Disney+ has confirmed to us that this will be the case this time around as well. As usual, release times vary based on where you're located.

Whatever the case, one thing is for sure: you will be able to enjoy a new episode of The Mandalorian season 2 every Friday starting 30 October.

The Mandalorian is a Disney+ original production, so you need an active subscription to the streaming service to be able to watch. Subscriptions to Disney+ in Australia cost $8.99 a month or $89.99 for an entire year.
