Frequently asked questions about whale watching in Perth

Where can I go whale watching in Perth?

Whale watching tours are open from both Perth and Fremantle.

When is the whale watching Perth season?

You've got a couple options when it comes to spotting these majestic creatures.

Between March and May you can spot the male humpback whales heading north to meet the females. This time of year brings in large communities of the species.

In August, cruises float alongside the female endangered southern right whales. Between September and December you can spot the humpbacks making their migration south to Antaractia.

What do I wear while whale watching?

Due to the nature of the boats, you'll want enclosed, flat shoes. Depending on what time of year you're going, dressing warmly will ensure a comfortable cruise. Bringing a waterproof jacket will also save you from getting wet along the side railings.
