Can anyone see history repeating itself with this Tigers vs Eels game?

Just 12 months ago, the West Tigers were languishing with an 0-5 start heading into their Easter Monday clash with Parramatta. Desperate for a win, they managed to get the chocolates against Parramatta and now they'll be hoping for the same.

Last year's grand finalists, Parramatta are also coming into Monday's game with a much needed 2 competition points, as they have won just 1 game so far this season.

Tigers vs Eels match preview

Both the Eels and Tigers will be hoping Monday afternoon's game can kickstart their season, as they are currently 15th and 17th respectively.

The Tigers came into 2023 filled with optimism with a number of high profile signings coming to the club, while Parramatta were fresh off a grand final appearance.

But so far season 2023 has not gone to plan for either side.

Last year's grand finalists the Eels have won just 1 game in the opening 4, but they have had a noticeably tougher draw.

The Tigers have so far dropped key games they should have won if they are to avoid the wooden spoon.

Both teams will be looking at this game as an opportunity.

For Parramatta, a game against the struggling West Tigers could be exactly what they need to get their attack flowing and give momentum to their season.

Meanwhile, Tigers coach Tim Sheens joked his side will struggle to beat the bye in a few weeks, but has the perfect chance to shake off last week's disappointing performance with a strong outing against an equally lowly-placed team.

In welcome news for Parramatta's fans, they will get Shaun Lane back for his first game this season, while the Tigers will again shuffle their spine, this time trying out Charlie Staines at fullback.
