It wasn't quite the dream final people were hoping for this T20 World Cup, but Pakistan vs England is still a tasty match-up.

Both teams had dominant displays in their semi-finals, with Pakistan easily accounting for New Zealand and England hitting India out of the park.

It meant the top-ranked sides in each group after the Super 12 stage didn't get through to the final, but both Pakistan and England deserve to be here.

Both are previous T20 World Cup winners, but Pakistan last won in 2009 and England in 2010.

Pakistan vs England T20 World Cup final preview

Although meeting for the first time this T20 World Cup, England and Pakistan are well aware of each other's recent T20 form.

England travelled to Pakistan for a 7-match T20 series in September, which they won 4-3.

It was closely fought until the last match where England convincingly won.

Ominously, it looks like England might be following the same path here, stepping up for the big games as their convincing semi-final win over India showed.

Pakistan vs England

However, the toughest opponent for both sides might be the weather, with a bleak forecast predicted for the day of the final.

Three matches in this tournament have already been washed out and 3 were rain-affected and decided by the Duckworth-Lewis system.

If rain does wash out the match, we would be in the rare territory of declaring joint T20 World Cup winners.
