How to watch Sydney Swans vs GWS Giants AFL live and match preview
The Swans aim to maintain their unbeaten start to the AFL season when they take on the Giants in the 20th Sydney Derby.
Swans vs Giants is a match-up of teams that appear to have shifted course dramatically. The Swans have been slowly rebuilding the side that lost the 2014 and 2016 grand finals and seem to be ready to take a big leap forward in 2021.
The fledgling Giants were seemingly on an upward trajectory towards premiership glory, capped by a berth in the 2019 decider. But a 10th-placed finish last season wasn't in the script and a 1-3 start to 2021 has critics wondering where the club is headed.
It's an important four points for both sides. The Swans lead the derby ledger 12-7 overall while the injury-hit Giants' confidence will be restored somewhat following their upset win over Collingwood last time out.
When is Sydney vs GWS?
The Sydney Derby's opening bounce is at 4:35pm AEST on Saturday 17 April at the SCG.

Swans vs GWS match preview
The Giants face a tough battle stopping Swans superstar Lance Franklin without injured defender Phil Davis. That job will probably be shared by Sam Taylor and Lachie Keeffe. Franklin can join Kieren Jack (3) with the most Brett Kirk Medals if the veteran can produce another best-on-ground performance in the Derby.
The Swans will be missing key forward Isaac Heeney (broken hand) and skipper Dane Rampe (broken finger). Rampe's injury leaves the Swans short of options to limit GWS' stand-in skipper Toby Greene, who has kicked five goals in each of his past two games.
Rampe actually broke his finger at training two weeks ago and his ability to push through the pain barrier and help his side post impressive wins over Richmond and Essendon has inspired his younger teammates. Swans by 26 points.
