Cast and crew
The history of the Star Trek series is long and winding, with series splitting off from the original show at every turn. Star Trek: Discovery is no different, picking up right at the end of the starship Shenzhou's last moments alive during a battle between the Federation and the Klingons.
Set approximately ten years before the events of the original Star Trek series, the show centres on the cold war between the 24 houses of the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets. The crew of the USS Discovery find themselves thrust into the conflict and must make harrowing decisions that will not only decide their fate but the fate of the entire Federation.
Leaving behind the usual confines of the Trek series, the crew of Discovery are on a support mission to help a pre-contact civilisation survive a deadly drought. From here, the crew becomes embroiled in an intergalactic war, meeting and fighting ancient species and contending with no shortage of life-threatening situations.
The series is focused around the character Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), the first human to be raised by a Vulcan - in this case, Sarek from the original Star Trek series, played here by James Frain. Burnham is a tough but fallible character who finds herself caught between her heart and her head. Her various mistakes are fuelled by her past trauma, putting the universe at stake when she puts the entire Federation in danger at the hands of the Klingons.

When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labelling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
