Can the Rabbitohs become the first team to defeat the Panthers this season?

SUMMARY: Rabbitohs vs Panthers is exclusive to Fox Sports. Your best option is to watch live on Kayo unless you've already got a Fox Sports subscription. You can watch for free with this 14-day trial.

The Rabbitohs face a real test of their premiership credentials with matches against the top two teams over the next fortnight in the Panthers and Eels. If they defeat both sides before a round 13 bye, their premiership odds will shorten dramatically.

The Panthers are the first side in the NRL era to go 10-0 to start the year. The last team to achieve that feat was the 1996 Roosters and guess who their goal-kicker was? None other than current Penrith coach Ivan Cleary, the father of Panthers sharpshooter Nathan.

Rabbitohs vs Panthers match preview

In a massive boost for the Rabbitohs, star fullback Latrell Mitchell returns from suspension, allowing coach Wayne Bennett to shift Cody Walker back to five-eighth. Benji Marshall will return to his utility role while fellow veteran Josh Mansour has been named on the wing after recovering from a hamstring injury.

For the Panthers, backrower Kurt Capewell (concussion) returns after missing Magic Round.

It takes a brave man to tip against the undefeated Panthers but this is South Sydney's chance to prove they can beat the best. They've been towelled up twice this season by premiers Melbourne Storm and will want to make a big statement in Dubbo.

2021 Defensive Leaders

Mitchell's return will help their cause. The Bunnies will have to be on top of their game, with the Panthers conceding a miserly 7.2 points per game this season. We think they can do it. Rabbitohs by an Adam Reynolds field goal.
