Will premiers Richmond or the high-flying Swans suffer their first loss of the AFL season?

SUMMARY: Tigers vs Swans is on 7mate in NSW and the ACT. If you're anywhere else in the country you need access to Fox Footy. Your best option is to watch live on Kayo Sports. You can watch for free using this 14-day trial.

After his strong return against Adelaide, Lance Franklin is being rested this week as the club manages his return from a long injury layoff. His showdown with Richmond talisman Dustin Martin would have been the headline act, but there is still plenty to like about this match-up.

An upset over the premiers would set up Sydney's season with some winnable games looming. But the Tigers are also tracking well in their pursuit of a third straight flag. They also have six of their next seven matches in Melbourne in their efforts to establish their top-four credentials once more.

Who will win Richmond Tigers vs Sydney Swans?

Sydney are playing an exciting brand of football, with their impressive youngsters fitting in seamlessly to the established talent thus far. Logan McDonald, only 18, has kicked 5 goals in wins over the Lions and Crows while the Swans have had both of this year's Rising Star nominations to date, Errol Gulden and Braeden Campbell.

We expect Richmond's class and poise under pressure to be the difference, although the 2021 season stats suggest this could be tight.

The Swans narrowly lead Richmond in total possessions (744 to 741) and the total marks are dead even (193 each). Sydney are also fifth in the AFL for kicks, with the Tigers 10th, which could work to the Swans' advantage on the wide expanse of the MCG. All up, this match should be a cracker!Richmond vs Sydney Possession Count
