Where to watch Patrick Melrose online in Australia

Alexandra Plesa 26 July 2018 NEWS

The new Benedict Cumberbatch drama paints a brilliant portrayal of addiction and dysfunctionality.

Quality dramas aren’t hard to find these days, so it takes a lot for one to really stand out from the crowd. Still, there’s something about Patrick Melrose that will make you stay up at night. Maybe it’s Benedict Cumberbatch’s haunting performance as the titular character. Or maybe it’s the story of a broken man who can’t seem to escape his troubled past and inner demons.

Based on the semi-autobiographical novels about Britain's upper class by Edward St Aubyn, Patrick Melrose is a new miniseries that premieres in Australia at the end of July. It centres on a man who struggles to overcome his addictions as well as some severe issues rooted in abuse by his parents. Besides Benedict Cumberbatch, the show also stars Jennifer Jason Leigh, Hugo Weaving and Jessica Raine, among others.

Addictive and grim, the show was met with positive reviews from critics and it’s currently boasting a 90% Rotten Tomatoes score. Plus, it was nominated for five Emmys, including Outstanding Limited Series.
