Synopsis
In a television landscape overfilled with superhero shows, Jessica Jones stands out from the crowd due to its focus on the more human aspects of being a super-human. The show follows the titular heroine as she struggles to make it as a private investigator and deals with severe repercussions after being controlled by a villain. It's more aftermath than origin story, which is a nice change for the Marvel universe.
Jessica Jones is dark and captivating, boasting brilliant performances from both Krysten Ritter and David Tennant. You won't be blown back by the special effects – instead, you'll be pulled in thanks to rich character drama and clever storytelling. At its core, the show is a tale of woman confronting the abuser who almost ruined her life, which always makes for compelling television.

We've all dreamed of how great life would be if we had superpowers. Sneaking out of sticky situations with the power of invisibility. Flying to the sunny Bahamas free of charge whenever you want. Using telekinesis to cook dinner without ever leaving the couch. The hero's life seems pretty sweet, even if you occasionally have to save the world from mad scientists and ruthless crime bosses.
But what if you woke up one day and found your powers were no longer yours to control? That someone was using you and your abilities for their own ends, stringing you along like a superhero puppet and twisting your powers into tools of evil? What would that do to your conscience and to your sanity?
For Jessica Jones, these questions are more than academic. Gifted with superhuman strength and speed from the car crash that killed her parents, Jones's plans to use her powers for good are cut short by a fateful encounter with Kilgrave, a mind-controlling megalomaniac who turns Jones into his personal superhero servant. It is only through tremendous force of will that Jones eventually breaks free of Kilgrave's leash, but the experience leaves her a mere shell of the person she was before.
Nevertheless, Jones attempts to rebuild a normal life, swearing off superpowers and starting her own detective agency in the underbelly of New York City. Kilgrave, though, isn't accustomed to losing. He wants Jones back, and what Kilgrave wants, Kilgrave usually gets.

Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labelling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
