Debuting in 2015, I Am Cait is a docu-series that chronicles the life of Caitlyn Jenner after her gender transition. Viewers are able to follow Bruce Jenner as he transitions from Kardashian clan patriarch to one of the most high-profile transgender women on the planet.
During the show, Caitlyn makes it a point to educate the public about what it's like to live as a trans person, highlighting issues like transphobia and the significantly higher suicide rates among transgender teens. However, the series also maintains a light tone when necessary, with the Kardashians making special appearances every now and then.
At the same time, the show highlights how Jenner's privilege didn't shield her from backlash. Just because she was able to afford feminising surgery and fancy clothing didn't mean that her transition was easy, with I Am Cait shining a light on the many obstacles Caitlyn has had to overcome on her journey. The series also successfully emphasises that it's never too late to embrace your gender identity.
