How to watch Hobart Ashes Test Australia vs England online

Posted: 14 January 2022 2:30 pm

England avoided a series whitewash with a draw in Sydney and now comes a historic day/night Test in Hobart and the world's best pink ball bowler.

SUMMARY: The Fifth Ashes Test is on Channel 7 and Fox Cricket. You can watch on free-to-air TV or Foxtel or you can get a range of special features and a 2-week free trial with Kayo Sports.

England enters the final Test of a punishing Ashes series having done what many thought was beyond it in Sydney: avoided losing to Australia. The tourists held on for a draw by the barest of margins when Jimmy Anderson survived the final 6 balls of the match from part-time spinner Steve Smith.

However, like almost every moment in the rest of the series, England was outplayed at the SCG. Sydney's summer rain ultimately proved the difference between a draw and another Australian victory.

Hobart will host its first ever Ashes Test, a day/night affair that should suit Australia. The Aussies have a formidable record in pink ball Tests, having won all 9 they've contested.

When is the Hobart Ashes Test?

The Fifth Test will run from 14–18 January and is being held at Hobart's Bellerive Oval. Play is scheduled to start at 3pm AEDT on each of the 5 days.

Who will win the Hobart Ashes Test?

Australia and England have met twice in day/night Tests, the Aussies victorious in each. The most recent, of course, coming in Adelaide in December when the Aussies won by 275 runs.

Marnus Labuschagne was Man of the Match with scores of 103 and 51 while Mitchell Starc continued his incredible performances with the pink ball. He skittled the Poms with 4 first innings wickets then added 2 in the second, taking him to 52 wickets in day/night Tests, 18 more than the next best bowler (Nathan Lyon). He averages 18.23 with the ball in these matches compared to 29.73 in day Tests, clearly showing just how difficult the big left-arm quick must be to face under lights.

Australia will win not just because of Starc. England is yet to score 300 in an innings in this series and has not yet managed to take 20 Australian wickets when bowling. The tourists have lost 12 of their last 14 Tests Down Under. We think this will be number 13.
