Where to watch Gunpowder online in Australia

Alexandra Plesa 16 May 2018 NEWS

Gunpowder stars Game of Thrones actor Kit Harrington as Robert Catesby, one of the masterminds behind the infamous Gunpowder Plot.

On 5 November 1605, a group of militants colluded to assassinate Protestant King James I in order to restore a Catholic to the throne. You may associate the event with Guy Fawkes, but he was merely the fall guy, with Catesby playing a much more important role in the plot. The three-episode miniseries puts him under the microscope and sheds light on one of the most twisted and fascinating moments in British history.

Besides starring, Harrington also worked on developing the series. Fun fact: he is a direct descendant of his character. The cast includes Mark Gatiss, Liv Tyler and Robert Mullan. Dark and engaging, Gunpowder features just enough violence to make it gutsy. Yet, the series doesn’t skimp on impressive visuals either. It’s a powerful period drama perfect for history buffs.
