Collingwood vs Richmond AFL Community Series: Start time and how to watch

Posted: 5 March 2021 2:44 pm

AFL powerhouse clubs and fierce rivals Richmond and Collingwood face off in their AAMI Community Series match.

SUMMARY: Magpies vs Tigers is exclusive to Fox Footy. If you have a Foxtel subscription you are good to go. If not, you can watch for free using this 14-day Kayo Sports trial. That gets you access to all of Kayo's unique features and 50 additional live sports for no cost.

The single pre-season clash for all teams in the AFL's 2021 Community Series continues with a showdown of AFL giants. The Pies are coming off a disastrous off-season that resulted in the resignation of long-time president Eddie McGuire. Richmond meanwhile are quietly tooling up for a shot at a fourth flag in the past five seasons.

With a shortened pre-season due to COVID restrictions, there are few opportunities for players to shake off the rust and push their cases for selection. Collingwood youngster Ollie Henry and exciting forward Will Kelly are among those that will be given cracks at cementing spots for round one.

The Magpies will have a different look following Adam Treloar's exit and with Jordan De Goey expected to spend more time in the middle. Premiers Richmond are more settled but do have a few spots up for grabs. Fringe players like forward Jake Aarts and ruckman Mabior Chol are ready to stake their claims.

When is Collingwood vs Richmond AFL Community Series match?

The opening bounce of this pre-season match is at 7.25pm AEDT on Friday 5 March at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.

Who will win Collingwood vs Richmond AFL Community Series?

We're expecting the Magpies to get their year off to a flying start against the premiers, who are missing star forward Tom Lynch (sore toe). Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy has been firing in the club's warm-up matches, while De Goey will play in a new midfield role after recovering from ankle and abdominal injuries. Magpies by 12 points.
