Longing for some supernatural sisterhood? Long no more. Charmed is back with a reboot, updating the classic story of the powerful witch sisters for 2018 and boasting a political edge that’s expected to fare well in the current TV landscape.

This version of Charmed is a re-imagining of the show with the same name that ran from 1998 to 2006 and originally starred Shannen Doherty (later replaced by Rose McGowan), Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano. The new version takes place in the present and follows the lives of three sisters, Macy, Mel and Maggie, who discover that they are The Charmed Ones following their mother’s death. Each of them has a magical ability – Mel can freeze time, Macy can move things with her brain and Maggie can hear people’s thoughts. In short, they are a powerful trio of witches who have to embrace their new destiny and start fighting supernatural demons while also struggling with common problems associated with being a woman in 2018. Who knows – maybe they’ll even uncover who murdered their mom in the process.

The new Charmed series features Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery and Madeleine Mantock. The critics are mixed as far as the 2018 version of Charmed is concerned, but one thing’s for sure – the show is pure magic, featuring strong women standing up for each other and working together for the greater good. In our spell book, that makes for compelling television.
