The AFLW is expanding once again for its fourth season. Gold Coast, Richmond, St Kilda and West Coast are coming on board, taking the number of teams to 14.

They will all be gunning for the Adelaide Crows, who won the inaugural 2017 season and again took it out last year. The Western Bulldogs (2018) are the other premiership winners to date.

This is all the information you need on the new AFLW campaign.

Stream AFLW on Foxtel Now

This is a jack-of-all-trades service for Foxtel. It acts as a streaming alternative to Foxtel iQ, but it does allow for a set-top box should you want it (at an additional $99 cost). Foxtel Now provides access to all the sports channels (Fox Sports 1–8, beIN SPORTS 1–3, ESPN 1–2) in HD. However, you don't get the features of Kayo Sports and you need to buy the Entertainment pack before you can buy the Sport pack, pushing the price up.

At a minimum you'll be spending $54/month, but you can at least utilise the 10-day free trial.

Watch AFLW on Foxtel iQ

The premium iQ range follows Foxtel Now's requirements for needing the Entertainment pack to access the Sports HD pack (all channels). This is the traditional cable TV service, with a box that must be installed in your home, too.

The box means you can record content and where applicable, it can handle 4K resolution experiences. It comes partnered with the Foxtel GO app that allows you to stream your subscribed channels to various devices at no extra cost.

AFLW Official App

Also available for free is the AFLW Official App. The app is robust, with statistics, lots of information and every game of the season broadcast live. If you are a Telstra customer, it's also data-free. The downsides are that it doesn't have the viewing features or additional content (talk shows, pre- and post-match shows, highlights) of Foxtel and Kayo Sports.

You only get AFLW, not the men's AFL or any other sport. You can also watch all games on the official womens.afl website.

So how does the AFLW conference system work?

This season there is an expanded eight-round home and away schedule in place. There are two conferences made up of seven teams apiece. Each team plays the six competitors in their conference, plus two additional matches against teams in the opposite conference.

For the finals, the top three teams in each conference qualify. The first-placed team in each conference receives a bye while the others face off in elimination finals. There are then preliminary finals and a grand final, held on 18 April. The grand final host is determined by the AFL.

Which AFLW conference is your team in?

Conference A: Adelaide, North Melbourne, Geelong, Greater Western Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Richmond.

Conference B: Fremantle, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Carlton, Collingwood, St Kilda, West Coast.

AFLW fixtures

This year AFLW teams will play in eight rounds spread over February and March. After that there are three weeks of finals in April. You can see the full AFLW schedule here.
