AFL Grand Final Collingwood vs Brisbane match preview

Since the AFL era began in 1990, Brisbane have won 3 premierships, while Collingwood have won 2.

Collingwood have made a further 4 grand final appearances in that time.

Brisbane meanwhile have only appeared in 1 other grand final.

Brisbane's sweet spot came in 2001-2004, when they won 3 titles in a row and were runners up after that.

Interestingly, 2 of those premierships for Brisbane were decided vs Collingwood.

Collingwood's last appearance in a grand final was in 2018 when they lost to West Coast.

It's also the last time the AFL trophy left Victoria.

Collingwood last won the title in 2010 in a replay after the first grand final was tied.

If you include VFL premierships, Collingwood actually have 15 titles to their name.

That puts them third on the list of all time winners, just 1 behind Carlton and Essendon.

We only recently saw a Collingwood vs Brisbane game when they played each other in the second last round of the regular season, where the Lions were 24-point victors.

In fact, Brisbane have won all 6 of their past games vs Collingwood, and the latter last triumphed back in 2019.

The Brisbane Lions already notched up a win during the week when Lachie Neale won his second Brownlow Medal.

We think they might follow it up with another win in the decider and keep their recent stranglehold over the Pies to win premiership number 4.
