The Melbourne Cup is ready to have another famous chapter written as 24 horses head to Flemington for the race that stops the nation.

SUMMARY: The 2022 Melbourne Cup is on Channel 10 and 10 play, Racing.com, Kayo Sports and Foxtel. You can watch on Kayo for no cost using this 7-day trial.

Last year's Melbourne Cup was spectacularly won by Verry Elleegant for star jockey James McDonald.

Local horses won 2 of the last 3 Cups, but the internationals have otherwise dominated the last decade.

Internationals also dominate this year's field, with nearly 80% of runners hailing from overseas.

The race is run over 3,200 metres and holds Group 1 status.

What time is the 2022 Melbourne Cup?

The Melbourne Cup is famously known to be held on the first Tuesday in November, which in 2022 is on 1 November.

The main race on the program is race 7 and is scheduled for 3pm AEDT at the Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne.
