Wanderlust With: Amelia Old of Passports from the Heart
Travel and philanthropy are at the heart of her travels.
Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Passports from the Heart Amelia Old is a woman with a mission: to travel the world for good. Her latest mission? To hike to Mount Everest base camp in November and raise funds for Cancer for College.
Her goal stands at $10,000 and if you want to get behind this lovely lady you can do so here.
But before that next adventure, we take a peek inside Amelia's travelling life for a little inspiration on where we should be exploring – hike or not hike!
Q. What's the last holiday you took?
A: I just returned from a press trip to Lafayette, Louisiana where I had the opportunity to experience a Cajun Creole Mardi Gras. It was a blast!
The last actual holiday I took that wasn't work related was to Paris in January. It was a Christmas gift from my husband!
Q: What about the first holiday you took?
A: The first holiday I ever took was to Panama City Beach, Florida. Growing up in the Southern states, that was the go-to place for summer vacations.
Q: What's your favourite destination in the world?
A: My favorite destination in the world? That’s difficult. I don't know that I could choose just one as each destination has something unique that one can fall in love with. A piece of my heart has been left in Greece, Zambia, Paris and London.
Q: How about the top 3 items you can’t leave home without?
A: Working as a travel writer and digital influencer, of course I must always have my cell phone and a mobile charger. I also travel with multiple notebooks as I like to have a place to jot down notes.
Q: Lastly, if you could only pick one – beach, city or mountains which would it be?
A: I'd pick the beach nearly every time. There's something about the sound of the sea that calms me.
Amelia's all-time favourite photo. "Every evening at the Links at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach, California a bagpiper plays while walking up the fairway. It's so beautiful!" she says.
